However, this Bidayuh mat-making heritage is dying slowly as the new generation has no interest in learning the art.
Because of this, the kasah is being overtaken by mats from Kalimantan.

THE Biperoh clan, which is one of the 20 clans of the Bidayuh community, resides in eight villages along Borneo Highlands Road in Penrissen, about 32km from Kuching.
According to unofficial estimates, there are more than 10,000 Biperoh in these villages.

TWO Sarawak groups are among the world class performers at this year’s Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF).
